Today‘s most modern logistics processes are not only time- and cost-saving, but also resource-efficient and environmentally friendly.
As experts in forwarding, transport and logistics, we are particularly aware of our responsibility towards people and nature. The logistics of Am Zehnhoff-Söns is characterised by sustainability: Holistic optimisations of systems, structures and processes ensure the most environmentally compatible goods management possible. Many of our customers attach great importance to working more economically and ecologically. As a partner, we don’t only offer an attractive global logistics portfolio, but also a wide variety of measures that make our and thus our customers‘ logistics a bit better.

Energy:

  • We source our electricity regionally (Stadtwerke Bonn) and, where possible, as green electricity.
  • We operate photovoltaic systems at our branches at Bornheim and Bonn to generate energy.

Fleet:

  • The AZS fleet consists exclusively of vehicles that meet the latest environmental and emission standards and are regularly inspected and renewed.
  • Since January 2024, we extended our intermodal fleet with Volvo electric trucks, which are 100% electric and with a total towing weight of up to 46 tons guarantee clean delivery of goods in the regional area.

What kind of green electricity is currently used and will be used in the future?
At AZS, we primarily use certified regional electricity from renewable energies (e.g. wind power). Our photovoltaic systems also make an efficient contribution to the company‘s own energy generation. In the future we will also supply large equipment such as cranes and electric industrial trucks with green electricity.
What are the technical specifications of the Volvo electric trucks?
The Volvo heavy-duty e-trucks are 100% electric with a total towing weight of up to 46 tons. The battery capacity is up to 540 kWh, which corresponds to an output of up to 490 kW and a range of up to 300 km. The curb weight is about 10.5 tons.
How much does the payload of an electric truck differ from that of a comparable diesel truck?
This is difficult to answer and depends on the task to be performed and the technical data of the respective vehicle. Since the batteries increase the weight, the EU allows the total towing weight to be increased by up to two tons to 46 tons in accordance with Council Directive 96/53/EC.

Environmental advantage of combined transports: Save CO2, expand possibilities

As a full-service company with connections to rail, water, air and road, we offer individual transport options at our locations. We use state-of-the-art methods to combine the best transports for each individual order. Since not all goods are transported by truck, we relieve the roads, save congestion kilometres, pollutant emissions and toll charges.
Transport by barge and rail is often more energy-efficient, cheaper and more climate-friendly, especially for large quantities of goods over longer distances. Our flexible fleet then takes care of the fine distribution in the follow-up. „Green Logistics“ is an elementary topic that has occupied us for a long time and will continue to do so in the future. Our innovation team works tirelessly to improve processes, technology and transport – together for people and nature.
